Air Lift Super Duty Bags Installed

By the way, you never posted what your problem was with the Timbrens? Was it exactly what I told you it woukd be?

For a guy looking for good advice, you sure seem to be getting bitter that your alternate path has been a like a bad trail in the Black Hills.

If you dont like my advice, why keep coming back for it?
Don’t remember what you said the problem would be - remind me.

I don’t remember asking for your advice at all. Don’t confuse asking questions about experience with something as asking for advice. Nobody is getting bitter here unless you are… are you? My alternate path hasn’t been bad at all, I tried one solution now I’m going to try another, and remember there are no bad trails in the black hills, just out of towners that don’t know how to ride the tough ones.

Again, wasn’t asking for advice. Re-read the posts.

So for reference, here is a picture of my thumb pressed into the air bags at 0 psi and 5 psi. It's only slightly more pressure at 5 psi, maybe the same you would use doing random thumb tasks like cracking a can of ol school Coors. The only real resistance is the heavy rubber carcass.

Also here is a shot of the t I splice in near my pump.to make bleeding off air easy. I only have this because I've had connectivity issues with a pst remote and needed to deflate the bags to unhook my trailer.

You don't know whether the pressure increases, cause you've never run it on this rig (neither has 8 ball). I clearly stated the bags won't compress to a point where they would even be noticeable at 5 psi with the heavy springs and suspension. It was never about ol Boyle.

So now we're coming back full circle and acknowledging air bags work better than most options for towing, the setup I outlined in detail in this thread works very well and seems to be reliable, and air pressure adjustability is a really good option to have when towing light to heavy loads in variable condition.

Whew! When you and 8 ball pulled out ol Boyles Law, I was sweating bullets thinking maybe I had missed some serious data. Then I remembered, nah that never happens!
Whether or not I’ve run this setup is irrelevant. The pressure will increase no matter what when the bag is compressed. You argued that PSI is PSI and it can’t increase, but go ahead and die on that hill if you want.

We aren’t coming back full circle, you are. I can’t answer whether or not the setup that you suggested (and clearly invented) works better than anything else but it certainly a great option from the looks of it. I knew you were just dying to hear that your idea is the best of the best options and has to be acknowledged by everyone. Go ahead and die on that hill too but I promise nobody gives a shit and you won’t win any medals for it.

As far as you missing some serious data - you’re damn right that never happens. Have you forgotten you know everything there is to know about this subject and probably every other subject people talk about?

Nobody's inventing anything., it all been done before. Air bags are air bags, they always will be, including the 10,000 rigs that will have them installed this week.

Just put some bags in and enjoy the advantages! That's what the thread was started for, so people knew there was an option for this rig just the same as the standard 2500HD.

I've never had a bag problem in 20 years and 6 sets. But according to you, everyone you've known has had problems. Now your putting them in and will be better for it. Sorry your feelings got hurt in all the distraction.

I plan on installing them and enjoying them. My feelings didn’t get hurt. If my feelings got hurt from someone I don’t even know I think I have much bigger problems than running level while towing. In fact, if my feelings got hurt at all over something this ridiculous, I’d be worried.

I’m stating you invented them because you are just so set on letting the world know you’re right about everything and that kind of personality just rubs me the wrong way sometimes, but hey to each their own.

As far as having issues with bags, I know two guys, both same path as me as far as mechanical ability and modifying everything and anything. Maybe they got leaks because of the off-roading they did with them - no idea. There are tons of opinions to support the issues with leaks and ripping bags all over the internet as well as distributors that sell and install all this shit every day. The timbrens were worth the try and just didn’t work out the way I wanted them to, not a big deal to me at all but now I’ll try the bags and hope they do what I need.

Everyone that installs Timbrens has had their feelings hurt. I think my ol man keeps his in that bucket as a reminder! I had been running my first set of bags for 3 years when he put those in and I warned him no to as well.

Mostly I'm just jerking your chain and having a little fun with you two self proclaimed scientists. But as everyone knows, there's 5 steps in the scientific process. While I have completed all 5 18 months ago, you and 8 ball are still on 2. Thats the genesis of this thread. I look forward to your thesis upon conclusion of the process.

I think the guys that know everything get their feelings hurt when people don’t listen to them. It’s kind of like a five year old throwing a tantrum and Dad isn’t entertaining it. I find it somewhat amusing dealing with your kind because it’s just so obvious on what the response is going to be. Can’t blame me for having a little fun too.

I’m no self proclaimed scientist at all, in fact I despise people with science degrees or any degree for that matter. I proved myself at a pretty young age and have constantly challenged myself my whole life pushing the limits on just about everything imaginable so when I get the arrogant know it all that likes to put people down that don’t agree with them, it’s like a mosquito that just won’t go away. You definitely serve your purpose as that guy, and hey where would the world be without you? We’d probably all be running timbrens or sumo springs just waiting for someone to save us from the piss poor performance they provide. Can’t wait to get these bags and update the thread!

Now we're starting to get somewhere, I'm slowly bringing you around. Once you get those bags installed, you'll be calling me Dad!

Half the people i know have science based degrees. I"ve, got two of them myself and did 35 years in the industry. But everything I know I learned on the farm before I was 18. Everything since has been easy! My ol man says I don't know shit, cause I didn't spend 4 years in the Army......LOL......but he bought Timbrens too.

Two of the best engineers I know (one of them was an exceptional businessman and CEO of the company I worked for four years) graduated from South Dakota School of Mines right in your back yard. That's a great engineering school. Why do despise them?

Haha you just can’t help but to be that guy. You are the epitome of that guy and it’s so funny.

After growing up on a farm myself and learning a shit ton, I guess my opinions on people with degrees started in the Marine Corps. It’s really frustrating to lead Marines into battle, destroy the enemy, keep my guys alive because of my logic and decision making only to have some officer that has a degree chew my ass because I didn’t do it the way he would have liked. There’s a million examples of this throughout my eight years serving with multiple deployments and awards to go with them. From my perspective, a degree is a piece of paper that proves you can memorize things and take a test. This was also proven with my 20+ years in the construction industry after the Marine Corps when architects with multiple degrees, engineers with degrees and PE stamps, lawyers and the whole lot of people with degrees couldn’t tell the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground. Throughout my successful career starting on the bottom in the field and becoming a small business owner, I’ve seen so many people with degrees that really just proved to be the dumbest fucking people I’ve ever met. Absolutely zero common sense, zero logic, and zero integrity to boot.

I guess it’s a very far stretch to say all people with degrees are idiots, but I think it’s spot on to say that 85%-90% of them are. Going to school and spending 4+ years in a man’s younger years builds absolutely zero character, zero life experience, zero responsibility for anything other than themselves and once completed the entitlement from these people to everything is absolutely ridiculous. Yes there are good schools out there and SDSOM is one of them but it doesn’t change the fact that people with degrees are mostly not on my list of people I respect. Hopefully that answers some of your questions.

Sounds like more bullshit to me! I take everyone at face value. Most people are good and have something to contribute, so I'll respect what they bring to the table regardless of background or education.

Many of the guys I know that farm and ranch have degrees ranging from agronomy, veterinary, chiropractic, business, accounting, engineering, auto/diesel tech, etc. I just had lunch with one of my college roommates, he had an agronomy business for 20 years selling chemicals. Sold it 2 years ago to one of the multi nationals. He farms his family's land now. He was dressed like a hobo and driving an old farm truck......he's probably worth $8-10 million and couldn't care less. I respect his game!

It sounds like bullshit to you because you have a degree and a different perspective on people with degrees…. Thanks for proving my point. So because your friend is worth $8M-$10M and has a degree but dresses like a hobo means what exactly? Money is everything? Visual appearance dictates brain power? What exactly are you pointing out here?

I also respect people for what they show me they are made of, not how much money they have, how many degrees they earned or what they dress like. Most of the arrogant people I’ve met thought their shit didn’t stink because of their education and money, but never did much for others or were willing to sacrifice much to speak of. Actions speak louder than words in my book.

I'm just saying, why judge a book by the cover? You said with prejudice you despise everyone with a degree. I asked why? You then said well only 80-90% are assholes and gave one example. I said, we don't have the same shared experience and many people I know with degrees are very good at what they do, have enjoyed success, and remain humble.

You sound more miserable with each post. I having a hard time following you. Now might be a good time to take a break. Get your tools organized and think about how you'll get your bags installed. It's gotta be more productive than thinking about whether or not a degreed professional had any role in the financing, design, procurement, manufacturing, shipping, etcn of said air bags. Or maybe you just dont really despise everyone in the chain of custody and that was all for show!

Thanks again for proving my point. I know you learned how to interpret while reading in college didn't you? I gave multiple examples on my experiences with college grads but you must have skimmed over that part. One thing we can agree on is we don't have the same shared experience and I don't disagree that people with degrees are very good at what they do but that's where it all ends. They are good at that one thing they memorized and gained experience in afterwards.

I am not miserable at all. In fact I am very happy and satisfied with my life, my accomplishments, my family, my home, my friends and there really isn't anything I'm unhappy about. I mentioned in an earlier post about how the know it all arrogant assholes just rub me the wrong way and in my life experience it's mostly people that have degrees with this sort of attitude. The sort of people that never really wanted for anything, struggled much to achieve something or sacrificed much of anything to get where they are in life. You just so happen to give that impression and I expressed that. You glaze over the facts that I pointed out on multiple posts and one of the most obvious was that Boyle's law proved your point completely wrong and it is absolutely absurd to think that compressing an air bag doesn't increase air pressure inside...... because.... science. I find it comical that someone with two science degrees doesn't back the proven science in this scenario for no reason other than to be right. This further proves you college boys don't have the education enough to admit when you're wrong.

No need to get my tools organized or think about how to get the bags installed as this looks to be a pretty simple task and definitely not one that requires a whole lot of thought or planning. I'm sure there were tons of college grads involved in every aspect of the bags I ordered but the difference is I don't have to deal with their arrogance, watch them pound their chest or get their resume on how much more they know than everyone else they've ever been in contact with.

Maybe you should do some self reflecting and figure out why it is you are so adamant about proving to everyone on the ZR2 forum just how smart you are and how your ideas and ways of doing things is the only way it should be. Maybe you should find more use for yourself from your family or peers and you wouldn't have to try to prove yourself to a complete stranger. Maybe think about those professionals with degrees you have so much adoration for and the humility they display and try to emulate that. There is one thing for certain, you have zero humility proven by your display to overshadow other people, overconfidence in conversation, clear resistance to feedback, constant need to be validated, excessive self promotion, comparison to others and the fact that you are never wrong. My guess is this is not the first time you've heard any of this and either don't give a shit or can't see past your own nose. Remember - humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.

Took the L on the Timbrens and blamed the only guy that warned about them, who also happened to do his the right way 18 months ago.......LMFAO.....I love this forum when the stooopid comes out!

Finally shutting it down......probably the smartest thing you've said since "@AXE was right about the Timbrens".......good on ya!

Now get them phony stock jounce plates off your rig and the jounces too. I looked at that kit, its the same bags and same mounts they sell in all the other kits. The only addition is the flying saucer. Should be easy after that.

Don't forget to take out those jounce plates and jounces, if you want to be articulating in the Black Hills they must go!

If you need help, I know a guy!

I’m going to keep them intact and even throw on a few extra. Maybe you can stop by on your way to NoDak and we can install some jounces on your truck. I’ll show you how to drive the Black Hills with some authority.
