I'm not sure if it's as much obsolescence tactics....if at all....But more cost cutting. A lot of owners believe their vehicle should last several hundred thousand miles, but consumer focus groups repeatedly show that 100K is still the benchmark of customer satisfaction. So, if they can make it that far with as little maintenance as possible, the bulk of owners will be happy...Just not commercial users and truck buyers. There is a bulk of data that suggests a large portion of the new car buying public don't keep them past 50K miles anyway. Again, not truck buyers or commercial users....But drive by a BMW dealer and look at all the lease turn-ins on the lot. Probably most of those owners were satisfied, but the next owners damn sure won't be.Watched this last night……sounds like there is truth to it to me. It sucks and is scary all at the same time. Of course the auto industry is not the only business model to do it but still. Trucks costing upwards of 90k now and we have to deal with this crap
