Anyone else notice paint chipped off around the hood insert? I have paint that flaked off on both front corners of the hood insert

There is a lot of discussion on this at the the two zr2 owner groups on Facebook. From a recent conversation, gm is looking at a spacer.

Mine is at order code 3400 so I don’t have personal experience to offer. Hopefully your dealership and/gm correct the issue for you and others while ensuring satisfactory repairs.

what’s under that thing? Surely someone will just pull it off, right? Maybe even create a functional air scoop? (I’m clueless, so don’t @ me)

Mine is doing it after 3 days of ownership

Exactly where mine is chipping off. Getting fixed next week. Mine blowing gm still can’t figure out how to paint a vehicle
Are they removing the hood scoop and repainting the whole hood? Please elaborate so I ensure mine gets fixed correctly. Thanks and hope your repair goes smoothly.

yes painting the whole hood. i'll let you know. they recommend putting ppf on the hood and then having them attach the insert

i have the same chipping.. was your covered by GM or the dealer?

You can add me to the list of hood paint chipping

gm doesn't have a fix yet of course. they had this same problem with the colorados for years. still no fix. ppf the hood then have them reinstall the insert

As much as I love my truck I’ve had a number of little issues already and I’m still under 2k miles

Both doors for me and the hood has two little spots. The paint has some other issues as well…I have an appointment at my dealer on Friday.

All four of my doors and my hood are Peeling. My truck was also delivered with a chip in a tow hook, a tear in the passenger seat, and 3 paint chips in the roof spoiler. Of course, this is my 2nd ZR2 in the past 3 weeks as my white one peeled on all 4 days as well. Dealer unwinded the dealer 24 hours later on that Truck. Now, dealer is willing to unwind the deal on my current black one. I may take them up on it and be done with the whole ZR2 thing for now. Body shop told me today that all 4 doors and hood would have to be stripped and repainted. Of course, that means door panels removed to get mirrors off along with outer door trim removed as well. Once those areas/clips are compromised, they never fit as tight again in my experience. How these trucks made it out of quality control is shocking….that‘s assuming there is a quality control these days.

When the hood gets repaired can the hood hump not be reinstalled?

They need to issue a bulletin or recall on this. Here's a new Trail Boss that just came in today.
That's really bad. I figured it started after vibrations from driving around a bit, but apparently not. Crossing my fingers for my truck that it doesn't come like this.

Looks like gm is back to crap paint quality again. My hood is getting fixed next week
