Air Lift Super Duty Bags Installed

Thanks for the input - I am going to try the Timbren SES and see how it works. I figure it's cheap enough to try and I tow pretty much daily so I'll know pretty quickly if this is the ticket.
After your done trying them, if you want to throw them in the 5 gallon pail with my ol man's Timbrens experiment there's still room left. They've been sitting in his garage for 15 years.
 
I still need to but bags on mine. I haven't gotten around to it yet. Was on the fence on what to go with and just put it off, 😅
 
The 1500 guys are running these RAS systems and reviews are really good. If your not towing more than 8000 lbs regularly, I would run these. They say they are compatible with 2500HDs but may need to remove overload spring. May be worth a call to them to see what they say about the ZR2 or "lifted trucks".

We'll see. I've read a lot more comments about bags/lines leaking, compressors failing and electronics not working on airbag systems than I have on Timbrens. In fact, I have not heard anyone with Timbrens unsatisfied with the product after the "fitting" from Timbren. If they don't perform I'll call Timbren and have them "customize" my fit for free to achieve my goal. If after that I still don't like them, I'll throw them in the trash and get back to researching an airbag kit. At this point I've got three people I know personally that went from an airbag system to Timbrens and have never looked back.

I've had five sets of them and the only problem I've had was with the nick in the wiring on this current compressor. Air Lift sent me out a new compressor cause it was damaged during packing. My boy is driving my last 2500HD and the bags are still fine. It's spent 9 years in the Arizona heat and 2 years in North Dokota cold.

Everyone that has problems with air bags has problems with everything they own, cause they dont know how to install them, maintain them, or fix them.

Good point about installing, maintaining and fixing. I’ve never taken any of my trucks to be “fixed” because there isn’t a shop out there that will do better than I will. The three friends I mentioned earlier are all like me and don’t have problems with anything they own so that’s not always true. I’m very particular about things so if these Timbrens don’t do the trick I’ll be installing bags.

They work, it's just that they are limited in their function. If your gonna always have the same load you might get what you're after. Air bags are 100% customizable, so you get whatever ride you want per load. If I wanted a different jounce, SumoSprings seems like its more customizable, perhaps not as durable. I have no experience with them.

But thinking about getting bags for my truck .
 
I got a response back from AirLift regarding the ZR2/AT4X 2500HD and they have a specific kit coming out for it. The part number is not available yet but it will address the factory bump stop as well as allow full travel. I'm not sure if they have a thinner cradle or a different upper mount to allow for more travel but I figured this would be a good thread to spread the word. I don't expect the Timbrens to solve everything but it's definitely cheap enough and simple enough to try. I'm expecting they will be okay for anything under 10k pounds but I'm anticipating a pretty big issue when the rear suspension is drooped on one side and stuffed on the other. That just might be what pisses me off enough to send them back. I know airbags have their multiple points of failure but it seems they are much better than they used to be. I am excited to see what AirLift is going to come up with for our specific model. I also looked into the full travel bags that Carli promotes and they look great but the price is ridiculous.

I got a bridge I'll sell you! Specific for what? You pull the plastic jounce cap off the axles and it looks like every 2500HD ever made.

No worries - apparently Firestone has a kit already that fit the ZR2 just FYI.

Guess ill buy that bridge. Airlift has ZR2 kits listed on their site now, lol. Just don't show the part number yet. Shows them as 88XXX.

Just order the ones I did, its the same kit with a different part number......LOL. I've installed five of these and they all look the same to me.....Ram or Chevrolet.

Maybe they will have the aluminum end caps instead of the composite. Maybe they will have a different jounce bumper with a compound that works better with the DSSV’s. Just because they look the same doesn’t mean they are. For someone that daily’s this truck there might be a noticeable advantage to the standard part number they’ve been using. Once it’s released these questions can be asked.
 
I mixed and matched kits and added cradles to get the bags right on my 1500 ZR2. I'm sorta hoping to just get some that work well out of the box for the HD. I see lots of guys posting on Facebook that the Trailboss bags work great on a 1500 ZR2, but that wasn't my experience. They did technically fit and they would work. I just wasn't happy with them. I want the internal jounce so I can run the bags below 5 psi. I don't mind waiting a bit longer to see how the ZR2 specific bags workout.

I've went this long without them NP. So far everything I've pulled hasn't been a problem. Mine is a gasser, so I do have about an extra 500lb of payload compared to a Duramax. Squat really hasn't been a problem. I would like bags for the extra stability though. Besides I've just always added them on the last several trucks I've owned.

Yeah, just get the kit I have and quit over thinking it. It's a rubber bladder with end caps and a mounting plate. They've been on trucks for decades.

I've towed in 7 states from the Canadian border to the Mexican Border. I've ran 12k miles, meanwhile Air Lift is still figuring out how to make kits for old trucks. If I had to wait 2 years to tow right, I'd just keep my old shit.

Can you even tow 10,000 lbs with that little gasser? You could stick a couple cantaloupe under the frame and tow max with that setup.
