very cool. nice trailerFinally got to take the yaks out today. First time for the year. The weather here has been shit thus far with high winds only on Saturday and Sunday.
The extra cameras make backing this little trailer a breeze. We are spoiled!
Anyone else here kayakers?

Excellent! We kayak, but are lucky enough to do it out of our back yard, so no hauling to location is involved. Nice trailer setup you have!View attachment 13016

Thanks! It was a fun little project to keep me busy during the covid lock down. Found an old jet ski trailer for next to nothing. New wheels, wheel bearings, LED lights, extended the tongue, added the rack and a tool box to hold all my gear. It’s really nice to just hook on to the trailer, grab poles and go. Everything I need is already there and ready to fish.very cool. nice trailer
Nice setup. We do some kayaking, but we are more of the floater types lol. Usually we put in up stream and mostly just float down. Few places we go where we just put in at a ramp and paddle around. But mostly we go to smaller waterways and head down stream. Doing that we are often parking on the side of the road or under bridges, ect. So parking can be kind of tight. I just use a bed rack. Here is a pic of our boats in my 1500. We haven't went since I got my HD back in december though. I put the same rack on the HD and with the longer bed it will haul them even easier. I do have a small trailer I use sometimes. But since it has high sides on it. We just sort of toss them in, lol. Finally got to take the yaks out today. First time for the year. If I did it all over again, I would have kept with the smaller yaks like y'all have pictured here. Mine is the PA14 on the bottom rack and that thing is the size of a small jon boat. Weighs in over 140lbs with my gear and is a monster to try and man handle in the bed of a truck. I couldn't imagine trying to get it up on the top of a truck rack. lol It sure is nice to be able to stand up and walk around on it though... We primarily fish the flats down here on the coast. Its a common occurrence to put in over 10 miles in a morning out chasing reds.Nice setup. We do some kayaking, but we are more of the floater types lol. Need to get the rack that goes in reciever hitch and utilizes the bed.Yeah it really depends on what you're doing and where you go I've got friends with 12' and 14'. They struggle putting in at a lot of the places we go. Mine is a Vibe yellowfin 100. I had a 10' foot pelican before it. I really considered going with a 12' when i got the vibe. But I'm kinda of glad I didn't. I can stand in mine and it does well for what we do. With a cooler and gear on it. It's already a little heavy to carry down sometimes, lol.
If I was going on bigger water mostly, I'd for sure have atleast a 12' boat and I'd have some kind of electric motor like a bixpy. I have a 21 foot bow rider boat for big water. We mostly just use the yaks for creeks and small channels.
Lol BTW. I haven't tried yet with the rack on the HD. I'm actually a little worried about it because it's so much taller. I might have to bring a step ladder with me to get them on and off. Rack worked well on my previous two trucks. But it's 7' in the air on the ZR2 HD.
I usually put two in the bed and two on the rack. My middle kid takes a inflatable paddle board that goes in a bag in the bed. We have three kids still at home. So we have jackets, coolers and boats for 5 people when we go. Bed gets pretty full lol. Two boats will go in the bed pretty easily with no hitch extension. Those are more for little trucks. But even if I just take two boats I put them up on the rack. Allows me to put the other stuff in the bed under the cover. If we go somewhere parking doesn't matter I just toss all the boats in a trailer. And everything else goes in the bed.Need to get the rack that goes in reciever hitch and utilizes the bed.
